Wow, what a week! Pancakes, Valentine’s Day and today hubby and I are celebrating a decade of marriage! I can’t believe how quickly 10 years has gone… it feels like just the other day we were saying our “I do’s”on a VERY hot Summer’s Day in South Africa! Such special memories!

… which has got me reflecting this on how quickly the past 10 years has gone!!

… and while I am so proud of where I am in my life now … what 10 years of marriage has really got me doing, is thinking about where I would like to be (personally & professionally) in the next 10 years! So this week I’ve been writing down these aspirations and goals in my journal, which is something I’ve been doing regularly now for the past 3 years with really demonstrable results!

10 year Journal

Goals and Dreams

There is so much science and research that’s been done around why and how it works so well! Did you know that you are 42% more likely to achieve your goals and dreams, simply by writing them down on a regular basis? This is such a good article from the Huffington Post explaining why you should do it.

… but I also love this mind-blowing study Harvard did in 1979, when interviewers asked new graduates from the Harvard’s MBA Program and found that:

84% had no specific goals at all
13% had goals but they were not committed to paper
3% had clear, written goals and plans to accomplish them

In 1989, the interviewers again interviewed the graduates of that class. You can guess the results:

The 13% of the class who had goals were earning, on average, twice as much as the 84 percent who had no goals at all.  Even more staggering – the three percent who had clear, written goals were earning, on average, ten times as much as the other 97 percent put together.

AMAZING right?

So this week I am doing a big plug for committing your dreams and aspirations to paper (in blue pen – as this stands out more for our brains as opposed to black on white). If anything it’s a brilliant excuse to get a fab journal (anyone else a stationery addict like me??)

… this year, I am using the Law Of Attraction Planner – which I am LOVING!! It helps you really set out what you want to achieve with your year and going forwarder the next 3, 5 and 10 years too – although I would suggest just starting with the year, so you don’t feel overwhelmed! This planer also helps you manage your months and weeks, combining work and personal in one! It’s not the cheapest, but I think it’s such a worthy investment to make in your future self!

Do you have a great planner or journal you use? I am always open to more stationery purchases 🙂

Wishing you a happy and goal filled week ahead!
